Rude Boy USA Rude Boy USA Series Volume 1 Victoria Bolton Books
I’ve always been a big fan of any kind of organized crime type of stories, especially when it involves a sort of Mobster archetype. So, that being said, it goes without saying I’ve come across the bad, the good, and the excellent type of reads when it comes to this genre. With author Victoria Bolton’s “Rude Boy”, I’d personally say it’s leaning more toward the ‘excellent’ end of the spectrum and I must say it has proven to give me a very strong and favorable first impression of the author’s raw writing ability.Of course, one of the main themes is that of the mobsters gaining increased power, influence, respect, and even fear throughout New York and in regard to the other operating families in the area. As far as this aspect of the book stands, it is crafted very well in a way that has a true sense of realism to it – it doesn’t feel ‘forced’ or artificial, and there’s plenty of twists and turns thrown into their pursuit of power to keep things interesting and unpredictable. As well as this, I think the whole era of New York in the 1960s is laid out in a very vivid, genuine, and accurate way. This shows the author has truly spent some time researching this particular era in an effort to help add to the sense of realism that undertones the book, the end result is a portrayal of a time period that is expressed in an accurate and respectable way.
I also especially admire the Jamaican culture/dialect influence, I can’t say I’ve come across any kind of book in this genre with an added twist like that – and I ultimately think it’s pulled off really well, it’s certainly creative and this, among several other influences, give the book a very original and even at times experimental vibe. Overall, I’m very impressed and I would love to see more from the author in the future, especially some more crime stories!

Excellent storyline history painting of the setting and characters suspence
Rude Boys Set in 1960's NYC the Rude Boys is s great book about organized crime in NYC. How an unknown group called Chimera takes on the big dogs of Organized Crime.
While not my normal genre I have to say that it gripped me from page 2 and didn't let me go until the end. A definite re-read.
Wonderfully written, this book grabs you by the hand and never let you go until the end of the book. It gives you a glimpse into the inner workings of the rivalry between crime families.
Were given a fun entree into the world of literary crime in Victoria Boltons Rude Boy USA as we follow four criminals on their rise to the top and see them put into the position to take or lose it all. The story takes place in New York City during the 1960s and focuses on the growth of the Chimera crime syndicate run by Bernie Banks and his lieutenants John, Ben, and Jerome.
The book is a non-stop crime story of murder, sex, and drugs pitting these four against some of New York's largest crime families as they look to establish their name. Crime in style they are working together to perfection, until they aren't Lust gets in the way and they'll have to come over internal struggle in order to provide the unified front that they need to overcome their enemies.
If you love historical crime fiction, or crime fiction in general, this is a fun read. I can't attest to the accuracy of the setting but it felt right while reading it. A fun read and a quick one as you won't want to put it down!
Rude Boy USA, by Victoria Bolton, is a story about organized crime that is set in the 1960s in New York City. It shows an underdog gang known the Chimera take on NYC and while getting noticed by the Ambrocino family, who are top notch in what they do. Its a story that grips you straight from the beginning and keeps your attention until the very end. This book is filled with crime, violence, and drugs galore, and lets not forget about all the sex. Bernie and his Chimera crew dress nice, appear to be highly sophisticated members and seem very respectable, but they crave more. They crave respect of the other crime lords and mob bosses around, as well as fear of those below them.
The story line flows very nicely and the writing style is done in such a way that it keeps your attention to the very end. The plot is believable, and the characters build very well throughout the story. Given the level of violence, drugs, and sexual content throughout the book, I would not recommend it for a younger crowd, but would highly recommend it for adults readers that enjoy this genre. It was a quick and easy read, especially will how much it sucks you in. I read the book in just 2 days, not really wanting to put it down. This was a first for me by this author, but definitely not my last.
